Based in Arusha, Tanzania, this company specializes in knits. They are something of a celebrity in the ethical fashion world: if you ask anyone in the know, they’re one of the first names that comes to mind.
They do their best for their workers. On top of the sort of benefits you expect from any good business -- fair wages, maternity leave, and a clean, healthy work space -- they also have on-site health clinics and treatment plants to ensure clean water is returned to the local environment. They often provide free or subsidized meal plans to their workers and their families, and at some of their factories, there are even childcare facilities. And of course, the garments themselves are top-notch. They subject them to the most stringent of tests so buyers can know beyond a shadow of a doubt that no harmful substances were used in the making of their garments.
