#Coatenvy: it’s a thing.
Maybe it was the kimonos we were eyeing last week or the desire to be warm and cozy while also wearing a costume for halloween. Maybe we’re just really feeling kinda fancy. So we present to you, the fancy embroidered colorful coat this week. Don’t get it twisted: This is not your ordinary statement coat but a coat that makes you feel Unique. Colorful. Alive. when you wear it.
As we sashayed around on pinterest, checking out all the fancy coats out there and made our board (which you should check out btw) we were amazed at the rich history of coats from all over with artisan elements, handwoven embroidery and lush incredible fabrics from Peru, Vietnam, Japan, etc.
BLACK COAT: ALABAMA CHANIN | GRAY CLOG: NISOLO | NECKLACE: ANDREA BOCCHIO | EARRINGS: A PEACE TREATY | RED PATTERNED COAT (LOWER LEFT): ROOPA PEMMARAJU |
The coat speaks for itself so pair a minimal black dress underneath with minimalist shoes. But we like pairing it with fancy jewelry because…when in rome.
Two cool brands to check out this week that gave us #coatenvy:
Alabama Chanin: they use 100% organic jersey fabric in their design, sourced sustainably from the seed up to the fabric. Then they make the clothes in the US of A. Their heirloom pieces are handmade by artisans who “each run their own business, in their own time and in their own way”. Items are investment pieces most certainly, but the fact that it’s made to order and handmade is definitely very fancy and we hope you think well worth the price. (500+)
Roopa Pemmaraju: they feature the artwork of Indigenous artisans from Australia. Then the fabrics are print blocked, handwoven and hand embellished in an Atelier in Bangalore. Only organic dyes are used. They have an awesome page where you can meet the artists who made the items.
Peruse and be inspired at your leisure. And remember, Stay Fancy girls.
